I'm not dead! Just forgetful. May. 9th, 2007 @ 04:52 pm
Well, it's been a heck of along time since I posted a blog.  I kinda forgot I had this...

So, what's new?

 - I've started up my second term at PSU and as of now we've four weeks left in the quarter.
 - I'm looking for a new summer job because I can't work my normal job (which is lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons for those of you who don't know.)  Plus I'm getting kind of tired of doing the same thing day in and day out.  I'm hoping to get a job at FedEx Kinko's, but if that doesn't work out I'll be keeping an eye out for other opportunities.
 - I've just finished reading a book called "They Like Jesus but Not the Church" and it totally blew me away.  I recommend it for everyone Christian or non-Christian.
 - I'm currently reading a book called "Velvet Elvis" that Ginny gave me and thus far it's pretty good.
 - I've been buy a butt load of belts from Goodwill and other thrift stores and I've been making collars, wrist cuffs and ankle cuffs out of them.  It's a lot of fun.

Cool!

Samurai

You are a Samurai.
You are full of honour and value respect. You
are not really the stereotypical hero, but you
do fight for good. Just in your own way. For
you, it is most certainly okay to kill an evil
person, if it is for justice and peace. You
also don't belive in mourning all the time and
think that once you've hit a bad stage in life
you just have to get up again. It's pointless
to concentrate on emotional pain and better to
just get on with everything. You also are a
down to earth type of person and think before
you act. Impulsive people may annoy you
somewhat.

Mmm...my favorite!

You Are Mashed Potatoes

Oridnary, comforting, and more than a little predictable
You're the glue that holds everyone together.

This isn't right at all...well maybe a little bit.

Your Birthdate: January 14

With a birthday on the 14th of the month (5 energy) you are inclined to work well with people and enjoy them.

You are talented and versatile, very good at presenting ideas, and you are also very good at organization and systematizing.

You may have a tendency to get itchy feet at times and need change and travel.

You tend to be very progressive, imaginative and adaptable.

Your mind is quick, clever and analytical.

A restlessness in your nature may make you a bit impatient and easily bored with routine, and rebel against it.

You have a tendency to shirk responsibility.

Hmm, I'd say this is right on.

You Are 24 Years Old

24

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

That's it for now.

Okay, this might be really dumb to some of you but.... May. 25th, 2005 @ 12:51 am
I REALLY needed this. So, don't squash the one moment of true happyness I've had in a while, and yes I know it's silly.

Angel
You are one of the few out there whose wings are
truly ANGELIC. Selfless, powerful, and
divine, you are one blessed with a certain
cosmic grace. You are unequalled in
peacefulness, love, and beauty. As a Being of
Light your wings are massive and a soft white
or silver. Countless feathers grace them and
radiate the light within you for all the world
to see. You are a defender, protector, and
caretaker. Comforter of the weak and forgiver
of the wrong, chances are you are taken
advantage of once in awhile, maybe quite often.
But your innocence and wisdom sees the good in
everyone and so this mistreatment does not make
you colder. Merciful to the extreme, you will
try to help misguided souls find themselves and
peace. However not all Angelics allow
themselves to be gotten the better of - the
Seraphim for example will be driven to fighting
for the sake of Justice and protection of those
less powerful. Congratulations - and don't ever
change - the world needs more people like you.

Finals...SUCK!!! Mar. 15th, 2005 @ 08:55 pm
Today was full of mixed blessings. I got up at 7 am to get ready for my math final and left my house at 7:30 am to ride the bus to school. At 8 am I get to class and the teacher walks in and tells us that we can start the final early so we can leave early. Is that great or what? Well, it turns out to be not so great and more of a lifesaver. First off I discover that I’d forgotten my calculator at home, which is really bad because this is a college algebra class and you can’t really do most of the problems without a graphing calculator. So that means that I had to borrow the teacher’s calculator in order to finish the test. Needless to say, she wasn’t very happy about that so she made me give her my wallet, which is understandable I suppose. Anyways, the test was okay, but there was one problem that I just…couldn’t get to work out. I spent about 30 minutes on that one problem until I finally just gave up and left. By this time I had used up all of the extra time that I had gained by starting early.

So after that I took a break and hung out with some friends until about 12:30 pm and then went to my lifeguard training class. Today we worked on jumping in from the chair, swimming to a patient, and getting them under control in under 20 seconds. Thankfully I passed the test with flying colors. It would have been very embarrassing to fail that skill since everyone in the class knows I’ve been a lifeguard for almost 6 years under another lifeguarding agency. After that test we did another series of simulations with spinal injuries. I was able to pass these tests as well but a lot of the people in the class didn’t and that really got a lot of them down. Thankfully, they will still get another chance to pass the tests on Thursday otherwise I’d feel bad for them.

Anyways, I’m tired from all the swimming and my back hurts. Thankfully, I don’t have to go to school tomorrow for any finals, but as far as I know there is still Dodgeball in the gym. I could but wrong and if so, I’m going to say I’m sorry to anyone who might be going tomorrow and is reading this.

So yeah, I’m done updating now.

» So yeah, my first post evar
Welcome, welcome. I'm not really sure of how to start this thing properly so I won't worry about it. I guess I'll be using this mostly for rants (bad things) and raves (good things) that occur to me in my day-to-day life.

So yeah, we have another mission team here working with the BCM. They drove all the way from Wyoming and they said it only took them 19 hours to do it. Sound’s like they were really burning up the roads to get here that fast. You know, it’s really kind of cool to have a missions team helping us out instead of the other way around. I’m so use to being the one who is helping other people instead of being helped.

They’re all pretty cool people. I don’t remember many of their names so I won’t even try to list any of them here. Suffice it to say that they are all cool. Today we took a bunch of the kids from the neighborhood around Beaverton First Baptist to an aquatics park in Clackamas. Although I think I’m becoming more vulnerable to carsickness because I got really nauseous on the drive over. Anyways, the kids were a lot of fun and seemed to have a good time swimming in the wave pool.

The lifeguards there were okay, I was still kind of nervous watching some of them though. Although they were light-years (I’m such a geek) better than some of the other Red Cross guards I’ve seen which is a good thing. I talked to one guy who was working the slide during a safety check his name was Jack (I think). He said that he had only been a lifeguard for about a year and that the only reason he was a guard now was because one of his buddies was going to be taking the training and asked him to do it as well. We traded some lifeguarding stories and he pointed out some of the ways they do things there at the pool. Now that I look back on that experience, I realized something. I would never have done anything like that before I joined BCM. It’s so great to see the little ways in which God has been working in my life lately.

After we got back from the pool, the missions team was going to go out to downtown Portland to hand out blankets and witness to people. That would’ve been a lot of fun to do but I’ve got projects that need to be done for finals. Which reminds me that I’ve got math homework waiting for me and it’s 11:25 pm. I’d better get on that.
